The Finnish Film Foundation grants support for professional Finnish film production. The goal of the Foundation is to promote high-quality, versatile and unique Finnish film. Support can be granted for feature-length, short and episodic fiction, documentary, animation and children’s films.
Production support is granted for script writing, development, the actual production, and marketing and distribution in Finland. The Foundation also grants post-release support on the basis of a film´s total attendance.
There are no deadlines for production support applications. The applicants are advised to contact the person responsible for granting the support and to read the support guidelines.
Production support for films aiming at theatrical distribution is granted by Film Commissioners Jukka Asikainen and Kaisu Isto. Asikainen is also responsible for hour-long television dramas and serials. Isto handles the support for minority co-productions. Film Commissioner Miia Haavisto is responsible for the support for documentary films made either for theatrical distribution or television. Film Commissioner Joona Louhivuori gives support to short films and animations made mainly for television. Head of Distribution Department, Harri Ahokas, grants support for marketing and distribution. All decisions about different kinds of support have to be accepted by Managing Director Irina Krohn.
Administrative Manager Niina Otva draws up and monitors the production support agreements and provides producers with information on financial questions of film companies and productions.
