The Finnish Film Foundation promotes the exhibition of the films and film distribution in Finland.
The goal of the support for exhibition is to promote the screening of films and their supply at cinemas as well as developing the versatility of the programming and activities of cinemas. Support is granted for modernisation of cinemas, for equipment purchases and reforms regarding the activities of cinemas as well as for additional film print copies for cinemas in smaller communities.
The goal of the support for distribution is to promote the screening and supply of films through various distribution channels by strengthening the distribution of Finnish films, in particular, and the distribution and import of films of specific artistic value. Support can be applied for the import and video and DVD distribution of films which will increase the versatility of programming.
The exhibition and distribution support has deadlines which the Foundation’s Board confirms every year. The applicants are advised to acquaint themselves with the Support Guidelines before applying for the exhibition and distribution support.
The person responsible for granting the support for exhibition and distribution is Harri Ahokas, Head of The Distribution Department and the decisions are approved by Irina Krohn, the Finnish Film Foundation’s Managing Director. Distribution assistant Riina Liukkonen is responsible for the execution and monitoring of the agreements and for providing information on exhibition and distribution of films.
