Last Cowboy Standing and Letters to Father Jacob to Pusan

Last Cowboy Standing (Skavabölen pojat), the debut feature of Zaida Bergroth and Letters to Father Jacob (Postia pappi Jaakobille), the latest film by Klaus Härö have been invited to Pusan International Film Festival (October 8 – 16, 2009).
Last Cowboy Standing has been selected for the Flash Forward competition, “set to discover yet-surfaced cineastes and create buzz among the young film generation. This section is an eclectic collection of first or second films of up-and-coming filmmakers from non-Asian countries.”
Letters to Father Jacob will be screened in the World Cinema section, a “presentation of new works by world renowned filmmakers along with the year best films that will help in understanding of the recent trend in world cinema.”
Last Cowboy Standing is a heartfelt drama about the ups-and-downs of a family, set in Finland during the 70s and 80s. It is produced by Jarkko Hentula / Juonifilmi and distributed in Finland by FS Film. The film is co-produced by the German Niko Vantastic and will also have theatrical release in Germany.
Letters to Father Jacob is a warm-hearted and touching story of Leila, a life sentence prisoner who has just been pardoned and starts working as the personal assistant for Jacob, the blind pastor living in the parsonage. It is produced by Rimbo Salomaa and Lasse Saarinen / Kinotar Oy. The Finnish distributor is Nordisk Film Theatrical Distribution and international sales are handled by FilmSharks.
