Four awards to Dome Karukoski´s films at Festroia
14.9.2009

Forbidden Fruit (Kielletty hedelmä) and The Home of Dark Butterflies (Tummien perhosten koti), both directed by Dome Karukoski, have won awards in altogether four different categories at Portugal´s Festroia International Film Festival this weekend.

Forbidden Fruit won the festival´s main award, Gold Dolphin for Best Film, as well as the CICAE Prize for the best art house film at the festival. The latter prize includes support for distribution at the European art house market.

The main actress of Forbidden Fruit, Amanda Pilke, won the Silver Dolphin for Best Actress.

The Home of Dark Butterflies won the second prize in the festival´s Man and His Environment competition section.

It is exceptional for a festival to invite simultaneously two films by the same director in the competition sections. Even more exceptional is that both films win awards.

Forbidden Fruit is produced by Aleksi Bardy / Helsinki -filmi. International sales are handled by NonStop Sales.

The Home of Dark Butterflies is produced by Markus Selin & Jukka Helle / Solar Films. International sales are handled by TrustNordisk.
