The House of Branching Love and Letters to Father Jacob surpassed 80 000 admissions

Mika Kaurismäki´s The House of Branching Love (Haarautuvan rakkauden talo), has 81 205 admissions after five weekends in cinemas. This weekend´s result was 7 414. The film is now number four on the Finnish chart. It is distributed in Finland by FS Film, now on 32 screens. The film is produced by Mika Kaurismäki´s own production company Marianna Films. International sales are handled by Wide Management. Another domestic film still in Top Ten is Last Cowboy Standing (Skavabölen pojat) by Zaida Bergroth. It now got a weekend audience of 2 897 (number 7 in Top Ten, total admissions after the third weekend 17 996). Last Cowboy Standing is produced by Jarkko Hentula / Juonifilmi and distributed in Finland by FS Film. International sales are handled by m-appeal and the international premiere of the film takes place at Pusan International Film Festival in October. Last week´s announcement of Letters to Father Jacob by Klaus Härö being Finland´s official entry for Foreign Language Film Oscars has clearly triggered the interest of the domestic audience: the film got this weekend 676 admissions, which is 52% higher than the weekend before. Total admissions are now, 25 weeks after the premiere, 80 442 (number 18 on the chart, 20 screens). Letters to Father Jacob is produced by Rimbo Salomaa and Lasse Saarinen / Kinotar and distributed in Finland by Nordisk Film. International sales are handled by FilmSharks. The next domestic premiere in Finland is The Interrogation (Kuulustelu) by Jörn Donner (September 25). It is a story based on real life about the difficult and mainly impossible choices of Kerttu Nuorteva, a Finnish-born Soviet citizen and spy, who was dropped into Finland by parachute in February 1942 – and later arrested and interrogated. The film is produced by Mark Lwoff and Misha Jaari / Jörn Donner Productions and distributed in Finland by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Finland. Last weekend´s Top Ten: 1.
