The House of Branching Love surpassed 90 000 admissions

Mika Kaurismäki´s The House of Branching Love (Haarautuvan rakkauden talo), has 92 337 admissions after six weekends in cinemas. This weekend´s result was 7 107. The film is still number four on the Finnish chart. It is distributed in Finland by FS Film, now on 32 screens. The film is produced by Mika Kaurismäki´s own production company Marianna Films. International sales are handled by Wide Management.
Another domestic film still in Top Ten is Last Cowboy Standing (Skavabölen pojat) by Zaida Bergroth. It now got a weekend audience of 2 492 (number 9 in Top Ten, total admissions after the fourth weekend 22 503). Last Cowboy Standing is produced by Jarkko Hentula / Juonifilmi and distributed in Finland by FS Film. International sales are handled by m-appeal and the international premiere of the film takes place at Pusan International Film Festival in October.
The local premiere of last Friday, The Interrogation (Kuulustelu) by Jörn Donner, got 1 126 admissions during the first weekend. Having only 5 release prints, the screen average of this film (227) is the highest of the domestic titles in cinemas at the moment. On the chart, the film is number 15. The Interrogation is a story based on real life about the difficult and mainly impossible choices of Kerttu Nuorteva, a Finnish-born Soviet citizen and spy, who was dropped into Finland by parachute in February 1942 – and later arrested and interrogated. The film is produced by Mark Lwoff and Misha Jaari / Jörn Donner Productions and distributed in Finland by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Finland.
The announcement of Letters to Father Jacob by Klaus Härö being Finland´s official entry for Foreign Language Film Oscars triggers the interest of the domestic audience for the second weekend in a row: this weekend the film got 904 admissions, which is 34% more than the weekend before and more than double the admissions of two weekends ago. Total admissions are now, 26 weeks after the premiere, 82 171 (number 19 on the chart, 20 screens). Letters to Father Jacob is produced by Rimbo Salomaa and Lasse Saarinen / Kinotar and distributed in Finland by Nordisk Film. International sales are handled by FilmSharks.
The next local premiere in Finland is Twisted Roots (Väärät juuret) by Saara Saarela, opening on October 9. It is a drama about traditions and legacy of a family, united for the first time in years under one roof by the father´s hereditary illness. The film is produced by Liisa Penttilä / Edith film and distributed in Finland by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Finland.
