Last Cowboy Standing won Main Award in Pusan´s Flash Forward competition

Last Cowboy Standing (Skavabölen pojat), the debut feature of Zaida Bergroth, has won the Main Award in the Flash Forward competition of Pusan International Film Festival, South Korea (Oct 8 - 16, 2009). The festival is considered as the most important film festival in Asia.
The screening in Pusan was the international premiere of Last Cowboy Standing. The Flash Forward competition is "set to discover yet-surfaced cineastes and create buzz among the young film generation. This section is an eclectic collection of first or second films of up-and-coming filmmakers from non-Asian countries."
The Flash Forward Award is worth USD 20 000. The jury described Last Cowboy Standing as follows: "The overall storytelling, acting and directing is carefully constructed and shows the subtlety of a female director, as well as strong mise-en-scene. We have high expectations for director´s directing potential and competency."
Last Cowboy Standing is a heartfelt drama about the ups-and-downs of a family, set in Finland during the 70s and 80s. It is a Finnish-German co-production which will have a theatrical release also in Germany. The Finnish main producer is Jarkko Hentula / Juonifilmi, the German co-production company is NikoVantastic. The Finnish distributor is FS Film, international sales are handled by m-appeal.
