The House of Branching Love keeps attracting the local audience

Mika Kaurismäki´s The House of Branching Love (Haarautuvan rakkauden talo) is at the moment the only local film among Top Ten on the Finnish chart. After nine weekends in cinemas it now has a total of 118 759 admissions (last weekend 4 816, number four on the chart). It is distributed in Finland by FS Film, now on 32 screens. The film is produced by Mika Kaurismäki´s own production company Marianna Films. International sales are handled by Wide Management. Last weekend´s local premiere, The Magnetic Man (Magneettimies), a documentary film by Arto Halonen, got 420 admissions during the first weekend (four screens). The film is produced by Halonen´s own company Art Films production AFP and distributed in Finland by Pirkanmaan elokuvakeskus. The next local premiere is Playground (Pihalla) by Toni Laine, opening next Friday. It is a Finnish-German co-production, the story of Laura (Sibel Kekilli), a German wife and mother who moves to Finland because her husband gets a job there. The main producer of the film is Aleksi Bardy / Helsinki -filmi and it is distributed in Finland by Sandrew Metronome Distribution Finland. Last weekend´s Top Ten: 1. UP 2. Fame 3.
