8.11.2009

Letters to Father Jacob (Postia pappi Jaakobille) by Klaus Härö and Heartbeats (Kohtaamisia) by Saara Cantell convinced the juries and audience at Nordic Film Days in Lübeck, Germany. Letters to Father Jacob won both the Interfilm Church Prize and the Audience Award. Heartbeats was awarded by the Baltic Film Jury as the best feature film of the festival.

The Nordic Film Days of Lübeck is an established film festival organized during November 4 – 8 for the 51st time.

The Interfilm Church Prize given to Letters to Father Jacob is an annual award for a “feature film of outstanding artistic merit which expresses human values compatible with the message of the Gospels”. The prize is 2500 euros. The Audience Award means that Letters to Father Jacob was, according to the audience, the best feature film of the festival.

According to the jury consisting of film professionals from the Baltic countries, the best feature film of the festival was Heartbeats. The Baltic Film Prize, created on 1991, is given annually to a Nordic film.

A previous film by Klaus Härö, Mother of Mine (Äideistä parhain) won both the Baltic Flm Prize and the Audience Award in Lübeck in 2005.

For Heartbeats, the screening in Lübeck was the world premiere. The film will be released in Finland in early 2010.
