Backwood Philosopher number one on chart with over 134 000 admissions to date

Backwood Philosopher (Havukka-ahon ajattelija) by Kari Väänänen is number one on the Finnish chart with 13 839 sold tickets this weekend. The film premiered on screens throughout the country on January 15, after having already had the very first screenings in the Eastern Finland´s area called Kainuu, where the story is located. Total admissions up to date are 134 667, sevn weekends after the first screening. Backwood Philosopher is produced by Marko Röhr & Mikko Tenhunen / MatilaRöhrNordisk Oy and distributed in Finland by Nordisk Film Oy, now on 58 screens.

The next local premiere, the family film Ricky Rapper and the Bicycle Thief (Risto Räppääjä ja polkupyörävaras) by Mari Rantasila, has its official premiere on February 12. The prospects are good, as the film already made it to number eight on the chart with its preview screenings (3 809 sold tickets this weekend). Ricky Rapper and the Bicycle Thief is a sequel to the box-office hit Ricky Rapper (2008) by the same director. Ricky Rapper and the Bicycle Thief is a touching and action-packed musical comedy, which tells a totally new story of Ricky´s adventures. The film is produced by Lasse Saarinen and Rimbo Salomaa / Kinotar Oy and distributed in Finland by Nordisk Film Oy.
