Ilja Rautsi

Ilja Rautsi is a screenwriter and a director, specializing in genre films that use the genre to express the lead character’s emotional turmoil. His latest writing works include the animated feature Fleak (2025), the cyberpunk comedy for kids, Snot and Splash (2023), the Sundance horror breakout Hatching (2022) and the feature adaptation of Emmi Itäranta’s award-winning scifi novel Memory of Water (2022). Ilja wrote and directed the short horror comedies Helsinki Mansplaining Massacre (2018) and Night of the Living Dicks (2021), both winning several awards at festivals like Fantastic Fest, Palm Springs, Neuchâtel and BIFAN.
