Joonas Berghäll

Joonas Berghäll (b. 1977, Kemi, Finland) has worked in the
film industry since 1998. He writes, directs, and produces films through his own production company, Dreamland Pictures / Oktober Oy. Berghäll’s next directorial work is Elf (2025), a large-scale international production. His feature documentary films Red Ring (2021), Mother’s Wish (2015), and Steam of Life (2010) have enjoyed international success. Steam of Life was Finland’s official submission for the Academy Awards, and it was nominated for the European Film Awards in 2010. As a producer, Berghäll’s recent credits include Je’vida (2022), Daniel (2019, co-produced with Netflix), and Baby Jane (2019). His work is recognised for combining strong emotional storytelling with themes that resonate across cultures.
