Pia Andell

Pia Andell (b. 1964) directed her first film in 1994 and has written and directed over 20 films over the years. Her selected filmography includes documentary films Pere Lachaise – Necropolis (1996), A Small Film on Sibling Relations (2001), Y in Vyborg (2006), Göring’s Baton (2010) , Patron (2013) and fiction films Records and Photographs (2015), A Halt ( 2017), The Match (2018) and Amidst (2024). In Andell’s films the light and the heavy walk side by side – there is always humor and as well as a raison d’être. Andell founded her production company Of Course My Films in 2005. Andell has worked as a producer at Yle, as a film commissioner at the Finnish Film Foundation and AVEK, as a mentor at international workshops, and as a teacher at Aalto University.
