Pihla Viitala
Pihla Viitala (b. 1982) is an internationally acclaimed actress and director. She has acted in more than 50 films and series in eleven different countries. She was awarded with the Shooting Star award in Berlinale in 2010. She has also been nominated for the best lead actress award in the Finnish Jussi Film Awards and she has won a Golden Venla at the Finnish Television Awards. In 2011, she made a debut as a director with her first fiction short film Elma and Liisa. The Age of Carmen is her first documentary film. In her art she finds it important to illuminate the stories of unheard women and give voices to people who are often neglected.
