Selma Vilhunen

Selma Vilhunen (b.1976) started her professional career as a screenwriter and is currently one of the most internationally succesfull filmmakers in Finland. Vilhunen’s debut fiction feature Little Wing received the Nordic Council Film Prize in 2017 and her second feature film Stupid Young Heart won the Crystal Bear in Berlinale’s Generation in 2019. Vilhunen is a co-founder of the production company Tuffi Films.

Vilhunen’s collaboration with screenwriter Kirsikka Saari resulted in an international festival hit, the short film Do I Have to Take Care of Everything?, which was nominated for an Oscar in 2014. Saari was the screenwriter also in Stupid Young Heart.
 
Vilhunen’s documentary feature Hobbyhorse Revolution was nominated for the EFA Young Audience Award in 2018.
