Finnish Film Affair: Call for International Projects

The selected projects will be pitched at the Works in Progress showcase on Wed Sept 26th in Helsinki in front of 200 representatives of Finnish film industry and around 100 international guests including sales agents, distributors, festival programmers and journalists. FFA will also arrange several one-on-one meetings between producers and international buyers and offers pitcihing coaching to participating filmmakers. FFA will cover two nights hotel accommodation for selected projects but other travel costs are at participants own expense. Majority of the pitched projects will still be Finnish.

The call is now open for feature films and documentaries in development/production with international commercial and/or artistic appeal that are still looking for financing, sales agent or co-producers. The project should already have some financing in place and have attached a producer and a director. The team should also have previous experience in feature film producing.

More than 300 film industry professionals attend this showcase event every year. In the past six years, FFA has hosted representatives from esteemed companies such as Wild Bunch, The Match Factory, Memento Films International, Trust Nordisk, XYZ Films, Indie Sales, Films Boutique, Universal Pictures, HBO Europe, Europacorp, BBC Films, CAA and many more. Festival programmers from Quinzaine des Réalisateurs, Sundance, SXSW, Hong Kong, Guadalajara, Edinburgh, Gothenburg and Les Arcs among others have also attended the event, as well as journalists from for example The Hollywood Reporter, Screen International and Variety.

The most talented filmmakers in Finalnd have taken part in the FFA Works in Progress showcase in the last six years including films such as Iron Sky the Coming Race (Timo Vuorensola), Little Wing (Selma Vilhunen), The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki (Juho Kuosmanen), Euthanizer (Teemu Nikki), Guardian Angel (Arto Halonen) and The Fencer (Klaus Härö).

The deadline for applications is May 31.

Meet some of the top European Casting Directors

Finnish Film Affair has invited eleven top casting directors from Nordic countries, Germany and the UK to participate in the second Nordic Flair program targeted for actors. The attending actors will get to "audition" for and have meetings with esteemed casting directors. The program will include honoring an international star with the second Nordic Flair -award. A panel discussion will also be organized featuring Tusse Lande from Sweden, Deborah McWilliams from the UK and an international agent and actor.

The call is open for all professional actors in the Nordic countries. For accepted participants traveling from outside of Finland we offer one complimentary night in a hotel in Helsinki. Flights/boatfares are at participants’ own expense. Some charges may apply to meals and materials (max 50€).
