Finnish Film Foundation
Our task is to support and promote the Finnish film industry. We give funding to professional film production, exhibition, distribution and international promotion of Finnish films.
Finnish Film Foundation was founded in 1969 as an independent foundation operating under the supervision of the Department for Cultural Policy of the Ministry of Education and Culture. In granting support, the Foundation is guided by the State Aid Act, The Film Promotion Act and Decree as well as the European Commission notification on state funding for film.
The Foundation receives its funds from the Ministry of Education and Culture for the promotion of film art. The Director of the Finnish Film Foundation is Stuba Nikula.
Funding and Co-Productions
We provide government grants for the domestic film industry. Funding is available for film industry professionals and companies registered in Finland. We support international co-productions.
Statistics
We are responsible for the compilation of official statistics on the film industry in Finland.
International Activities
Helping Finnish films and film industry succeed internationally is an important mission for us. We collaborate with our neighbors under The Five Nordics umbrella.
Accountability
Our goal is to support diverse and accessible film culture and a fair and equal working environment within the film industry. Ecologically and socially sustainable film sector will remain viable in the future. We are one of the organizations behind the Nordic Environmental Standard.
