Nordic NEST: Scriptwriters with Nordic-German Story Ideas Wanted

October 14, 2026

Following a successful kick-off at FilmFest Hamburg, it’s time to get down to business: MOIN Film Fund, the Five Nordics and the German Federal Film Board (FFA) are looking for ten established writers from Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland to take part in the second edition of Nordic NEST.

The goal: to work together on their film and series ideas at the Nordic NEST Space on Germany’s Baltic Sea coast – and then present them at Göteborg Film Festival as part of a matchmaking workshop. The most promising projects will ultimately receive up to €80,000 in development funding.

Applications are open now until 5 November 2026.

The five-day Nordic NEST Space will take place from 11 to 15 January 2027 on the Baltic Sea coast of Schleswig-Holstein. At Göteborg Film Festival 2027 (29 January – 7 February 2027), the selected writers will then meet 20 established producers from Germany and the Nordic countries between 30 January and 4 February.

Who can apply?

Writers from Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland who:

  • have at least two commercially released feature films or series (episodes) in their portfolio,
  • bring an idea in early development (not a script and without financing already in place) for a fictional feature film or high-end drama series to the Nordic NEST Space,
  • are looking to find a new Nordic-German producing partnership for their project and
  • are available from 11–15 January (Nordic NEST Space) and from 30 January – 4 February (Göteborg Film Festival). Nordic NEST will be in focus for two days during Göteborg Film Festival – the exact dates will be announced soon.

Five writers from Germany and five writers from the Nordic countries will be selected for the Nordic NEST Space.

What happens at the Nordic NEST Space?

The working week will be led by Le Groupe Ouest, one of Europe’s most innovative initiatives for script development. Developed by MOIN Film Fund, the NEST programme has already proven successful in Germany and is now being applied to the co-development of international projects.

No masterclasses, no judgement, no particular outcome expected. The focus is on exploring new perspectives and bringing out the very best in the participants’ ideas and stories.

What happens in Göteborg?

At Göteborg Film Festival 2027, the ten writers will meet 20 selected producers from Germany and the Nordic countries and present the project ideas they developed during the NEST Space. This will be followed by a matchmaking process in a workshop format facilitated by Le Groupe Ouest.

Please note: Only producers who participated in the Nordic NEST Kick-off in Hamburg in 2025 or 2026 are eligible to apply for one of the producer spots.

What happens to the selected projects?

For every project idea that, by the end of the matchmaking process (starting in Göteborg and continuing until approximately mid/late February), has brought together a German and a Nordic production company, MOIN Film Fund will automatically provide up to €20,000 in treatment funding.

Following the treatment-writing phase in March/April 2027, three projects will be selected to receive an additional script funding of up to €60,000 each.

The journey comes full circle at FilmFest Hamburg 2027, where the developed projects will be presented to the international market.

What costs are covered?

Nordic NEST Space: Travel, accommodation and meals for all participants.
Göteborg Film Festival: Travel costs and meals as part of the networking events. Accommodation is covered only for the days on which the Nordic NEST events take place.
