Hannaleena Hauru’s Fucking with Nobody selected to Venice
Fucking with Nobody, a satirical drama directed by Hannaleena Hauru, will have its world premiere at the 77th Venice International Film Festival. The film, which mixes fiction and autofiction, is an account of a devotedly single filmmaker who starts a parodical Instagram love affair with the young actor Ekku.
Fucking with Nobody will be screened in the Biennale College Cinema section of the festival. Last year, it took part in the Venice Biennale’s Cinema College program for microbudget films, and was awarded funding to complete the film. Cinema College, founded in 2012, promotes new, creative filmmaking. Fucking with Nobody was the first Finnish project in the program.
The film is written by Hauru and Lasse Poser and produced by Emilia Haukka and Jussi Rantamäki for Film Company Aamu. The production company is known for The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki, directed by Juho Kuosmanen, and Any Day Now, the upcoming debut from Hamy Ramezan. Aamu is also behind Hauru’s debut feature Thick Lashes of Lauri Mäntyvaara.
The Venice International Film Festival takes place September 2–12, 2020.
