Martin Hernández as a guest of Major in Film Sound Design, ELO

January 30, 2019

From the first one, Amores Perros through The Revenant, Panʼs Labyrinth, City of God, Into The Wild, Birdman and Madelineʼs Madeline, Martin has helped the sound narratives for Directors such as Alejandro González Iñárritu, Sean Penn, Guillermo Del Toro, Luis Mandoki, Alfonso Cuarón, Josephine Decker and Joe Swanberg.

Martin has won British Academyʼs Bafta Awards for best sound on Birdman and The Revenant, as well as two Oscar nominations and several other sound awards and nominations throughout the world. Regardless, Martin keeps playing with sounds trying to find a story to tell. He believes that without a story, there wouldn’t be any sound and nothing to say.

During the event, Martin will present an overview of the creative possibilities with sound and how it can help to tell stories.  He will also show several examples from most significant projects of his career.

The event is produced by Department of Film and Scenography (ELO)/ Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture with Finnish Film Foundation. The event is open for everyone. Welcome!
