Jussi Film Awards for films that premiered in 2023 were given on Friday, March 23, 2024 in a televised gala in Helsinki. Sisu won the most awards, four in total, followed by Family Time and Je’vida with three awards each.

For the first time in the 80-year history of the Jussi Award, the audience got to vote for the winner in one category. The Audience Favorite in Acting Award went to Linnea Leino for the film Lapua 1976. This was the second year that the acting categories were not gendered. Lapua 1976 also won the audience vote on the favorite film, with Syke-elokuva: Särkynyt sydän coming in second and Fallen Leaves third.

The Lifetime Achievement Award, “Concrete Jussi” went to actor Kati Outinen whose career spans over 40 years. The jury described her work exhibiting courage, unconventionality and curiosity. Outinen is best known for her fruitful collaboration with Aki Kaurismäki: she has won three Jussi Awards for her roles in his films. Outinen has also received the Award for Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival (The Man Without a Past, 2002).

For the first time this year, Filmiaura gave out a Diploma for Visual Effects. It went to VFX Supervisor Jussi Lehtiniemi and VFX Executive Producer Antti Kulmala for their work on Sisu

Good Deed of the Year Award, worth 2,000 euros, went to the team behind Lapua 1976: director Toni Kurkimäki, producers Mikko Jokipii and Pekka Pohjoispää, and scriptwriter Tuukka Haapamäki. Their arresting film exceeded all expectations with over 170,000 admissions domestically.

The Nordisk Film Award, worth 20,000 euros, is annually given to a film that lifts and enriches Finnish cinema. It was given to filmmakers Suvi West and Anssi Kömi for their documentary film Homecoming, a well made, important and modern work depicting Sámi culture.
