Apply to TorinoFilmLab’s ScriptLab 2022

Finnish Film Foundation and The City of Helsinki are partners of the program, hosting the June module in Helsinki.

ScriptLab is focused on fiction feature films, both original ideas and adaptations, in early stages of development. For ScriptLab 2022, applications for feature film comedy projects are especially welcome, in a wide definition of that genre.

Both experienced and emerging filmmakers from all over the world develop their projects through peer-to-peer group work, with the support of professional script consultants for the duration of nine months.

The programme welcomes 20 projects that are selected to work in five groups, each guided by a tutor with wide experience as a script consultant. A story editor trainee – who works side by side with the tutor – completes each group. To complement the peer-to-peer conversations, there are one-on-one sessions with the tutor as the project advances.

TARGET PARTICIPANTS:
Writer/directors, or teams of screenwriter and director, from all over the world, in early-stage development of fiction feature film screenplays. Many of our participants already work together with a production company. However, it is not necessary to have a producer attached to the project. Filmmakers applying with an adaption project need to have secured the rights.

DURATION:
1^st module: 20-26 March 2022 (online)
2^nd module: 10-17 June 2022 (residential, Helsinki)
3^rd module: 1^st week of September 2022 (online)
4^th module: end of October/beginning of November 2022 (online)
5^th module & TFL Meeting Event: end of November 2022 (residential – Turin, Italy)

FEE:
Course participation fee: 2.500 Euro (+VAT, if due). Extra fee of 2.000 Euro (+ VAT, if due), if a second person also attends the programme.

This amount covers workshop training, online sessions, hotel and part of the subsistence during the residential workshops. Participants must pay their travel costs.
