The Australian festival takes place June 7–18, 2023.

Fallen Leaves by Aki Kaurismäki is one of 13 films selected to the Official Competition at the Sydney Film Festival. It is screened in Sydney fresh after its world premiere in Festival de Cannes in late May. The domestic premiere is in September.

Family Time, a drama film by Tia Kouvo, is among the 10 films in the Europe! Voices of Women in Film selection. The program, organized by the European Film Promotion since 2016, celebrates European women filmmakers. Family Time had its world premiere in February at Berlinale and it has since been seen at New Directors/New Films in New York. The domestic premiere is in November.

Enjoying great success in international box offices, Sisu is set to screen in the Freak Me Out section of the Sydney Film Festival. The action film by Jalmari Helander premiered already in September in Toronto, and later in the fall it won four awards in Sitges, Spain. In Finland, it has over 165,000 admissions since its release in January.
