The Finnish Film Foundation’s International Department has invited Elena Pollacchi, a member of the selection committee at the Venice International Film Festival, to Helsinki. The title of the event is “A-Class Film Festival: A Challenging Journey,” and it is moderated by Tytti Rantanen, Executive Director of Espoo Ciné International Film Festival.
Jaana Puskala, the outgoing Head of the International Department, will also give a short talk (in Finnish).

Elena Pollacchi is a member of the Selection Committee of the Venice International Film Festival and is also appointed as consultant specifically for the Nordic countries, South Korean and Chinese-language cinema. She received her PhD from Cambridge University in 2007, and she Associate Professor at the University of Gothenburg. She has researched and written extensively on Chinese film and documentary cinema, Asian cinema, film festivals, and film production and exhibition circuits.
