Tell Everyone and Silent Legacy to compete in Göteborg

Minority co-production Redoubt is also in the Nordic Competition. The Queen of Fucking Everything is nominated for the Nordic Series Script Award.

Three productions supported by the Finnish Film Foundation are in competition at the Göteborg Film Festival, taking place Jan 23 – Feb 1, 2026, in Sweden.

Tell Everyone, by directed by Alli Haapasalo and written by Katja Kallio, will have its world premiere in Nordic Competition. Set in 1898, a young woman arrives to Seili sanatorium island, a final destination for troublesome females. Adamant to flee the hell out of the island, Amanda starts to plan her escape.

The film is also nominated for the Best Acting Award (Marketta Tikkanen in the leading role) and for the Sven Nykvist Cinematography Award (Jarmo Kiuru).

John Skoog’s Redoubt is also among the eight films in Nordic Competition. The Swedish film premiered in San Sebastian last September, and it is co-produced by Finland’s Bufo.

Silent Legacy, by Jenni Kivistö and Jussi Rastas, is in the Nordic Documentary Competition. Their previous documentary film Colombia in My Arms won the main prize in Göteborg in 2020.

Silent Legacy premiered in August at the Locarno Film Festival’s Critics’ Week. The film follows contemporary dancer and choreographer Sibiry, an immigrant to Finland, who begins to long for a deeper connection to his home village in Burkina Faso. The domestic premiere is on February 13, 2026.

Nordisk Film & TV Fond sponsors the Nordic Series Script Award for the 10th year. The Finnish nominee this year is Tiina Lymi with her comedy series The Queen of Fucking Everything. Previously, the award has come to Finland once, in 2019 to All the Sins by Merja Aakko and Mika Ronkainen.
