The Gamer, directed by Petri Luukkainen and Jesse Jokinen, and Lynx Man, directed by Juha Suonpää, will premiere in the Nordic:Dox competition at CPH:DOX.

The Gamer is set in the psychologically demanding world of e-sports: in order to win, a young player gets help from an experienced psychologist. The film is produced by Liisa Karpo and Marianne Mäkelä for napafilms.

Lynx Man follows Hannu, a man living in the woods with a special relationship with lynxes. He films them with night vision cameras. The festival catalogue describes the film as atmospheric and hypnotic, taking place “in the twilight between dream and reality.” The film is produced by Pasi Hakkio and Niina Virtanen for Wacky Tie Films.

The Last Seagull, by Tonislav Hristov, will premiere in early March in Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival and will be shown in the Highlights section of CPH:DOX. The film focuses on the 58-year-old Bulgarian, Ivan, who spends time on Sunny Beach in the hopes of finding a wealthy wife. The film is produced by Kaarle Aho for Making Movies.

The Change Makers section will feature Ruthless Times – Songs of Care by Susanna Helke. Combining music and documentary, the film outlines the healthcare crisis in Finland. It has traveled widely since last spring: to Tampere Film Festival, Locarno, and IDFA, among others. Timo Korhonen has produced the film for Road Movies.
