Finnish Film Award Nominees Announced

The first Jussi Awards were handed out in 1944, making them one of the oldest film awards in Europe. This year The Finnish Film Awards are handed out in 16 different categories with the award for Best Short Film returning to the ceremony for the first time since 1980.

The Jussi nominees are selected by a film industry committee set by Filmiaura, an association of Finnish film professionals. This year the selection committee decided to include an extra nominee in every category in honour of Finland’s centenary last year. A total of 12 films were nominated, the most nominations going to AJ Annila’s The Eternal Road with 13 nominations. Among other notable nominees is producer Miia Haavisto with three different films competing in the Best Film category.
